The Ableton/Other selector only applies to the Launchpad MK2 (due to its Ableton Live behavior). IF the Launchpad in use is NOT a MK2 model, you can ignore this parameter. IF the model in use is a MK2 AND you work with Ableton Live as DAW, set Ableton/Other = Live (which is actually the default).
First, let me state that I have already contacted Novation support, and I'm currently awaiting a reply. The issue is this:

The Launchpad works perfectly... when it is connected to my USB hub. If I take it out and try to connect it directly into a USB port it completely stops working. It is not recognized by Live or OSX's Audio MIDI Setup utility. The only information I've been able to ascertain is that when it is connected, the computer does recognize it as a Launchpad. This was found via System Profiler. I'm getting extremely frustrated with this behavior, as I can in no way take the Launchpad to a live gig, or even my couch for that matter.I've tried reinstalling the driver with the launchpad connected to the desired port instead of the hub, and have had no luck. Other than that, I'm completely stumped as to what the problem could be. It seems odd to me that it would work fine when connected to a hub, and not when connected directly to the computer.
If anyone has any other ideas, I am all ears.
